AFC Energy delivers hydrogen fuel cell system for ABB pact

16th Aug 2021 09:42

(Alliance News) - AFC Energy PLC on Monday marked a "major milestone" in its partnership with ABB Ltd by delivering its first hydrogen fuel cell system for the automation technology company.

The system will integrated with the Zurich-based industrial conglomerates's electric vehicle charging system.

AFC and ABB launched a partnership back in December which will see the duo "design and sell a high power EV charging system for grid constrained locations". ABB and AFC will target marine ports, charge point operators and private vehicle hubs for their EV charging system.

Hydrogen power generation technologies provider AFC said the fuel cell system will arrive in an ABB facility in Estonia on Monday.

Cranleigh, England-based AFC said: "Today marks a major milestone in the company's partnership with ABB whereby, following six months of detailed engineering works, AFC's fuel cell system will arrive at ABB's product packaging facility in Estonia for operational integration and validation, in accordance with the joint product development agreement that was signed between the companies in December 2020."

AFC shares were 0.4% lower at 59.06 pence each in London on Monday morning. ABB's stock was down 0.4% at CHF34.50 each in Zurich.
