(Alliance News) - AFC Energy PLC on Monday said that it has appointed Gerry Agnew as a non-executive director but two other board members will step down with immediate effect.
Agnew was formerly the technology chief of Rolls-Royce Holding PLC's fuel cell business and held various other roles with the London-listed jet engine maker.
He said: "I first met AFC Energy many years ago, and have watched with interest the dramatic change and progression made by the company over recent years, not only in its existing technology, but also in the development of its business models, key market applications and its new cutting edge high power density fuel cell power system.
"The AFC Energy alkaline fuel cell affords many advantages compared to its peers in the market today and I very much look forward to working with the executive and scientific teams in taking the business forward to commercial success."
Stepping down from AFC however are Non-Executive Directors Lisa Jordan and Percy Hayball.
The duo were representatives of Ervington Investments Ltd, which initially invested in AFC in 2012.
AFC Chair John Rennocks said: "We are delighted to welcome Agnew onto the board. Agnew brings an extremely high calibre of commercial and technological acumen to the business and reflects the state of our company that we can attract such talent.
"I would also like to thank Jordan and Hayball for their contributions in assisting the company since their joining the board in 2016 and 2018 respectively. They both, alongside Ervington, have been, and continue to be, great supporters of AFC Energy and we wish them all the best in their future endeavors."
Shares in AFC were 1.1% higher at 4.98 pence each in London on Monday afternoon.
