Advanced Oncotherapy To Install LIGHT System At Birmingham Hospital

20th Feb 2020 15:11

(Alliance News) - Advanced Oncotherapy PLC on Thursday said it has reached an agreement with University Hospitals Birmingham NHS Foundation Trust to install a LIGHT proton therapy system on its campus.

Advanced Oncotherapy's Linac Image Guided Hadron Technology proton therapy system is a type of radiation therapy that uses protons rather than x-rays to treat cancer.

Under the deal, the radiotherapy technology developer and the hospital will work together on research & development activities associated with the use of the therapy system, in order to increase the awareness of proton therapy for the treatment of cancer.

The collaboration also includes an agreement that implements a revenue-sharing arrangement. Advanced Oncotherapy did not disclose any details of this arrangement

"We are pleased to announce this collaboration with University Hospitals Birmingham NHS Foundation Trust, a leader in the non-surgical cancer treatment field. With three partnerships announced in the last two months - the Cleveland Clinic, the London Clinic and the Mediterranean Hospital of Limassol - this agreement is another important step for us as and is in line with our continuous commitment to defeat cancer," said Advanced Oncotherapy Chief Executive Nicolas Serandour.

The stock was trading 6.4% up at 36.50 pence each on Thursday afternoon in London.
