LONDON (Alliance News) - Advanced Oncotherapy PLC on Monday said its two coupled cavity linac modules are now ready to be high-power tested.
The company, which develops proton therapy systems for cancer treatment, said the two modules will be tested at high power using the radio frequency power units provided by ScandiNova and Toshiba. They will be tested as its facility in Geneva, Switzerland.
"The high-power testing of the components at this stage will be a crucial demonstration of their ability to perform to specifications," said Advanced Oncotherapy Chief Executive Sanjeev Pandya.
"Initial low-power testing has shown that they perform to expectations, and we expect that the successful conclusion of these tests will give us confidence that the CCL modules can work under the required conditions to deliver the high energy protons that we need to treat patients effectively," Pandya added.
Shares in the company were down 1.7% to 7.38 pence early Monday.
