Advanced Oncotherapy Highlights Journal Article On Proton Beam Treatment

20th May 2014 13:14

LONDON (Alliance News) - Cancer treatment developer Advanced Oncotherapy PLC Tuesday said that the Central New York Business Journal had written an article outlining the history and strategy of the partnership it created with State University of New York Upstate Medical University to build the first proprietary Linac Image Guided Hadron Therapy system in North America, a proton beam for treating cancer.

Advanced Oncotherapy and the university signed a letter of intent to establish a relationship to build a three-room, proton-treatment facility, a specialist training centre, and a research program in collaboration with the European Organisation for Nuclear Research, or CERN.

The company is also planning to set up a comprehensive customer operation in Syracuse to manufacture, assemble, test, market, and distribute the proton therapy machines for sale in North America and South America.

"This article details the whole process that led to us to partner with SUNY Upstate Medical Centre for the first commercial LIGHT system in North America," Chief Executive Michael Sinclair said in a statement. "Following the successful funding we can now move ahead with our plans with them to build a LIGHT proton facility in Syracuse near the heart of their medical campus, that serves a catchment area of almost 2 million people."

"We felt that it was important to notify UK investors in (Advanced Oncotherapy) of this article, which they might otherwise not see," he added.

However, the company's stock was down 1% at 2.55 pence in London Tuesday afternoon.
