Advanced Oncotherapy Confident Of Delivering First LIGHT On Schedule

LONDON (Alliance News) - Advanced Oncotherapy PLC said Monday that the manufacture of its first couple cavity linac module, part of its LIGHT proton therapy systems, has been completed successfully giving it confidence that it remains on target to deliver its first complete LIGHT system on schedule.

The modules consist of a series of cells which accelerate the protons used by LIGHT from energies of 37.5 mega-electron volts to the full 230 mega-electron volts that are required to treat all radio-sensitive tumours found in a typical clinical setting, the company said.

The module has been shipped to the company's facilities at the European Organization for Nuclear Research, known as CERN.

Shares in Advanced Oncotherapy are trading down 2.0% at 3.78 pence Monday morning.
