(Alliance News) - Active Energy Group PLC on Thursday last week temporarily suspended production of CoalSwitch after one of the reactors failed at its Ashland plant.
Shares in Active Energy were down 21% at 0.45 pence in London on Monday morning trading.
The reactor in Maine, US, failed whilst operating and an investigation as to why is underway, the London-based renewable energy firm said.
"The company was already analysing the performance of the reactors, which were originally from Utah, and considering their replacement to accommodate identified operational benefits," added Active Energy.
"These factors, combined with the detailed assessment will be considered before the Ashland facility resumes toward full scale production."
CoalSwitch is a renewable fuel pellet made of low-value forestry, agricultural residue and other energy yielding crops. It has been produced in Ashland since May this year.
Active Energy noted that all other equipment at its Ashland plant remains operational.
