(Alliance News) - Active Energy Group PLC on Wednesday said Player Design Inc has received a permit to construct and operating a CoalSwitch manufacturing facility at Ashland in the US state of Maine.
Active Energy shares rose 15% to 5.13 pence each in London on Wednesday afternoon.
The international biomass based renewable energy business said the plant is set to be completed in the third quarter of 2023, with production of CoalSwitch pellets available during the same quarter.
PDI is a Maine-based industrial machinery manufacturer, and is partnered with Active Energy.
PDI, which was granted the permit by the Department of Environmental Protection in the state of Maine, is required to provide further data to the department within a six month period.
Active Energy has already identified customers in both the US and Europe, with the firm continuing to see increasing enquiries for the technology.
Chief Executive Michael Rowan said: "We are delighted that PDI has received the Permit which will allow them to commence production of our next generation biomass fuel, CoalSwitch. Active Energy has continued to raise the profile of CoalSwitch with potential customers, both in the US and internationally, and will be sending product to these customers immediately after first production.
"We look forward to working closely with PDI towards production and we would also like to thank the State of Maine for their ongoing support throughout this process."
