LONDON (Alliance News) - Hotel operator Action Hotels PLC said Tuesday said it has opened its first hotel development in the Middle East, in its joint venture with hotel chain giant InterContinental Hotels Group PLC.
Action Hotels, the recently AIM-listed hotel operator, said it successfully opened its Holiday Inn hotel in Muscat in Oman at the end of 2013, in its first hotel development with Holiday Inn brand owner IHG.
"Tourist numbers to Oman are forecasted to continue increasing at a rapid rate. This, combined with an undersupplied, mid-market hotel space with a limited number of international hotel brands, makes us confident that this hotel will be a success for many years to come," said Chief Operating Officer at IHG Pascal Gauvin in a statement.
Gauvin said the opening of the first hotel will be followed by the opening of Staybridge Suites Rawdath Abu Dhabi in 2015, which is also owned by Action Hotels.
In February, Action Hotels announced that it had partnered with Premier Inn and Costa coffee chain owner Whitbread PLC, to develop the Premier Inn brands across the Middle East, with hotels under the partnership opening in cities including Dubai and Bahrain.
Shares in Action Hotels were trading 3.5% higher at 75.00 pence, while shares in InterContinental Hotels were trading 2.1% higher at 1,938.00 pence per share.
