Acacia Mining Promotes Michelle Ash To COO To Free Up CEO Brad Gordon

4th Jun 2015 06:34

LONDON (Alliance News) - Acacia Mining PLC Thursday said it has promoted Michelle Ash to chief operating officer, focusing on "realising the geological potential" of the company's assets, freeing up Chief Executive Brad Gordon who was holding the role.

Ash joined Acacia as the executive general manager of business improvement and planning in October 2013, and the company said she has played a "integral role" in bringing more discipline into planning processes, enhancing operational performance and implementing its cultural change programme.

Ash has more than 20 years of experience within the mining and manufacturing industries

across a range of senior roles, Acacia said, including as head of alliance planning and co-ordination for the BHP Mitsubishi Alliance and general manager strategy for MMG.

"I am delighted that Michelle will be taking on the role of chief operating officer within Acacia. I

feel that now is the appropriate time to split the role of CEO and COO to continue to embed and enhance the changes we have made since 2013 and Michelle's technical expertise, people skills and energy make her a natural choice for the role," said Chief Executive Brad Gordon.

Ash is currently also acting as the general manager of Bulyanhulu gold mine in Tanzania, where she will be based. However, once the company has hired a new general manager for the mine "in the coming months", Ash will leave this role.
