LONDON (Alliance News) - Acacia Mining PLC Thursday said it has appointed Mark Morcombe as the company's new chief operating officer.
Prior to joining Acacia, Morcombe was the senior vice president of the Obuasi gold mine in Ghana at AngloGold Ashanti Ltd, which de-listed from the London Stock Exchange in August 2014.
Morcombe will join Acacia in the second quarter of this year, and will split his time between London and Tanzania, where Acacia's Bulyanhulu, North Mara and Buzwagi mines are located.
"With the majority of our future gold production being sourced from underground operations, his background in mechanised underground mining is an ideal fit for us," said Chief Executive Brad Gordon.
Acacia shares were up 1.0% early Thursday to 253.14 pence.
