AB InBev Reportedly Plans To Sell SABMiller's Peroni, Grolsch Brands

30th Nov 2015 06:25

LOEWEN (Alliance News) - Belgian brewer Anheuser-Busch InBev NV plans to sell two of Anglo-South African brewer SABMiller PLC's best-known beer brands, Grolsch and Peroni, as the world's largest brewer seeks to ease European regulatory concerns over its pending acquisition of SABMiller, the Sunday Times reported citing people familiar with the matter.

No deal has been struck and a sale isn't certain.

The report indicated that rights to the Peroni and Grolsch brands in the US will remain with MillerCoors LLC.

Earlier this month, Anheuser-Busch InBev formalized the offer to acquire SABMiller in a deal worth GBP71 billion or about USD107 billion. In a related deal, in order to avoid antitrust fears, SABMiller agreed to sell its 58% stake in its joint venture with MillerCoors to Molson Coors Brewing Co for USD12 billion in cash.
