AB InBev Gets Approval From South African Bank For SABMiller Deal

25th May 2016 17:25

LONDON (Alliance News) - Anheuser-Busch InBev SA/NV late Wednesday said the South African Reserve Bank has approved its proposed combination with London-listed SABMiller PLC.

The approval comes soon after the European Commission's approval of the deal, which was granted after it agreed to sell some of its businesses.

"Approval from the SARB represents an important milestone in the process of securing regulatory clearance for the transaction in South Africa," said AB InBev.

All regulatory approvals for the deal should be obtained to allow the GBP71.00 billion deal to be completed in the second half of this year.

SABMiller shares closed up 0.2% to 4,269.13 pence per share on Wednesday.
