LONDON (Alliance News) - 888 Holdings PLC Monday joined rival bwin.party digital entertainment PLC in getting clearance to be an operator in the New Jersey online gaming market when it opens up later this month.
In a statement, 888 said its 888 Atlantic Ltd and AAPN New Jersey LLC unites have been granted a transactional waiver by the New Jersey Division of Gaming Enforcement and are authorised to act as online casino gaming services providers to Caesars Interactive Entertainment New Jersey LLC.
bwin.party digital entertainment PLC got its transactional waiver Friday. It intends to launch poker and casino games under both its own brands and its New Jersey partner's, Borgata Casino.
The New jersey online gaming market is set to be opened as a newly regulated market and is attracting the world's biggest online gaming companies. It is the third US state to open its market.
"The award of our license approval to operate as an internet gaming services provider in the State of New Jersey alongside Caesars Interactive is another milestone for 888," Brian Mattingley, 888's chief executive, said in a statement.
888 Holdings shares were up 3.6% at 159 pence early Monday, one of the biggest gainers on the FTSE 250, while bwin.party was up 4.9% at 158.7 pence, also one of the biggest gainers on the same index.
