(Alliance News) - 7digital Group PLC said Wednesday its music platform-as-a-service will power 'jazzed', an audio-visual streaming service for jazz and jazz-influenced music.
jazzed is a multi-tier jazz streaming subscription service developed by ETA Productions Ltd, creator of digital media platforms for entertainment markets.
Under the terms of an initial 12 months contract, which includes set-up, monthly and usage-based content fees, jazzed will use 7digital's application programming interface and platform access, playlist tools, reporting services and catalogue management.
"This will allow jazzed users to stream music from 7digital's extensive catalogue of jazz tracks," the company noted.
7digital said this contract underscores its strategy to "power the next generation of streaming services".
Paul Langworthy, chief executive officer of 7digital, said: "In order to capture the significant future growth in the streaming market, the all-you-can-eat subscription model will be supplemented by more targeted, premium services.
"jazzed is a perfect example of how 7digital makes it possible for these services to create new compelling music experiences for underserved audiences," Langworthy said.
7digital shares were trading 12% higher in London at 0.46 pence each on Wednesday.
