Board Update
Appointment of Independent Non-Executive Directors
Millennium & Copthorne Hotels plc, the international hotel group, is pleased to announce the appointment of Mr Shaukat Aziz, Mr Alexander Waugh and Mr Nicholas George as independent non-executive Directors of the Company with effect from 16 June 2009. These appointments follow the Company's announcement in March 2009 that Viscount Thurso and Charles Kirkwood would be standing down from the Board at this year's annual general meeting, each having served seven years, and that Christopher Sneath was planning to retire after nine years on the Board.
Mr Shaukat Aziz, 60, was Prime Minister of Pakistan from 2004 to 2007 having previously been Pakistan's Finance Minister from 1999. Mr Aziz had a long and successful career with Citibank, which he joined in 1969, and held a number of senior positions including Corporate Planning Officer for Citicorp, Head of Corporate and Investment Banking for Asia, Chief Country Officer in Malaysia and in Jordan and as a board member of various Citibank subsidiaries, including Citicorp Islamic Bank and the Saudi American Bank.
Mr Alexander Waugh, 45, is a world renowned author, literary critic and composer. He has commercial experience in event management, the media industry and is the founder of a successful publishing business.
Mr Nicholas George, 55, is a Chartered Accountant and is a Director of LGT Capital Partners (UK) Limited, he also sits on the Boards of GK Goh Holdings Limited and euNetworks Limited, both of which are listed on the Singapore Stock Exchange. He has over 30 years experience in investment banking and was a Managing Director of JP Morgan Securities (previously Jardine Fleming) in Asia from 1993 to 2002 and a Managing Director of HSBC Securities in Asia from 2002 to 2003.
Mr Christopher Sneath will continue as chairman of the Audit Committee to facilitate an orderly transition and intends to retire from the Board before the next annual general meeting. On Mr Sneath's retirement Mr George will succeed him as chairman of the Audit Committee.

There is no further information required to be disclosed under paragraph 9.6.13R of the Listing Rules of the Financial Services Authority.
