Regenersis plc
("Regenersis" or the "Group")
Board Appointment
Regenersis plc (LSE: RGS.L), a leading provider of after sales product support services to many of the world's premier technology brands is pleased to announce the appointment of David Gilbert as a Non-Executive Director of the Group. Mr Gilbert joins the Board with immediate effect and replaces Gordon Shields who announced in September his intention to step down from the Board.
Mr Gilbert, 54, has significant experience in the international business arena, particularly in the field of retail and consumer electronics: a core end-market for our Group.
In 1981 he joined Dixons Group plc (now DSG International plc) ("DSG"), rising through the group's marketing function to be appointed in 1991 as Group Marketing Director for both the Currys and Dixons brands. In 1995 Mr Gilbert was appointed Managing Director of Currys Group, shortly after which he joined the group's Board. In 2002 he moved to become Chief Operating Officer of DSG at a plc level, taking on responsibility for all Dixons group operations and overseeing in 2004 Dixons' move into the Greek market. By the time of his departure in 2004, the combined turnover of the operations under Mr Gilbert's control stood at £1.5bn.
In 2004, Mr Gilbert joined HMV Group plc as Managing Director of the Group's Waterstones bookstore chain, responsible for all aspects of the iconic 192-store retailer. In 2006 he was employed by Goldman Sachs Private Equity to chair a German drugstore chain, Ihr Platz, which in 2008 was successfully sold to a trade buyer.
Today, Mr Gilbert's interests focus on the online retail space, serving as Chairman of Warehouse Express, an internet business in the photographic sector and acting as a founder of, investor in and advisor to Reevoo.com: an online venture which provides consumer satisfaction data on leading consumer electronics devices. He is also a Trustee and Patron of the Contemporary Arts Society and a Board member of ARTCO at the Arts Council of England.
Welcoming Mr Gilbert to the Board Jeff Hewitt, Non-Executive Chairman of Regenersis commented:
"I am delighted that David has agreed to join our Board. He brings to Regenersis considerable commercial experience that is relevant to the development of our Group. He understands the technology we service, the nature of the consumers who purchase it, and the demands of the retailers and manufacturers who make up our client base. He has operated internationally, particularly in Germany, which again adds further depth and breadth to our Board. I am sure that he will make a significant contribution to guiding the group's strategic direction."
