BASHKOL PROJECT UPDATENew Prospects and Intrusion-Related Gold System Potential Identified
Highlights
· Geological review of historic exploration data and recent mapping indicates the occurrence of an Intrusion-Related Gold System ("IRGS") spanning over 8km length;
· Recent surface mapping and sampling identifies two new prospects: The Marta and Sari Prospects;
· Previous surface rock samples at Marta include 25 g/t, 10 g/t, 9.5 g/t, and 6.1 g/t Au over a strike-length of more than 1.5km;
· New high grade grab samples of 109 g/t and 25 g/t Au enhance gold mineralisation prospectivity at Marta;
· New grab samples from oxidised porphyry contain 0.55% and 0.31% Copper at Sari;
· Geophysical surveys completed at the Molo Prospect with preliminary results confirming structural trend linking with the Bekbulaktor Prospect; and
· Two rigs currently drilling at Bekbulaktor.
Tengri Resources (AIM: TEN), the mining exploration and development company focused on low-cost gold-copper projects in Kyrgyz Republic, is pleased to provide an update on its exploration activities at the Bashkol Project, located in the eastern part of the country.
Tengri is exploring the Bashkol licence under a farm-in agreement whereby the Company can earn up to a 70% interest in the project by spending a total of US$7 million in two stages before December 31, 2021. The Company has now established an exploration basecamp in Bekbulaktor Valley, a fly-camp at Sari-Chat river and a core logging and sampling facility in the town of Karakol.
At Bashkol, previous operators carried out a successful greenfields exploration program using a combination of geological and geochemical techniques. This work resulted in the delineation of numerous first order anomalies defining a 15km long mineralised trend, including the highly prospective Bekbulaktor Prospect.
Tengri's work do date at Bashkol has focussed on drilling at the Bekbulaktor Prospect and three drillholes have been completed. As a result of encouraging results, a second rig has been added to the programme and is now in operation to expedite the drilling campaign.
Surface mapping and sampling underway has so far identified two new prospects, the Marta Prospect and the Sari Prospect, approximately 10km southwest of Bekbulaktor.
At the Marta Prospect, previous surface rock samples include 25 g/t, 10 g/t, 9.5 g/t, and6.1 g/t Au, collected over a strike-length of more than 1.5km. Two recently collected surface rock samples at the Marta Prospect contain 109g/t and 25 g/t Au respectively.
At the Sari Prospect, previous exploration stream-sediment sampling yielded the highest concentration of tin (Sn), bismuth (Bi), beryllium (Be) and tungsten (W) in the Bashkol licence area. Recent surface rock samples from oxidised porphyry contain encouraging grades of 0.55% and 0.31% Copper. Further detailed mapping and sampling will be carried out at the Sari Prospect.
Additional exploration work completed includes geophysical surveys at the Molo Prospect, for which a comprehensive geological report is expected imminently.
IRGS potential
The Company's geologists are also conducting a review of previous exploration data at the Bashkol Project, and with detailed surface mapping and sampling further along strike, southwest of Bekbulaktor. Preliminary results of this review show an area spanning over more than 8km with the following features:
· Major trans-crustal shear-zones including the Kumtor-Ashutor Fault cross the tenement, associated with Permian granite intrusions as well as with gold and other minerals;
· Strongly and pervasively altered rocks by silica + sericite + weak pyrite;
· Occurrence of small, elongate plutons of leucogranites with a typical Au+Bi+W geochemical signature; and
· Outward zoning of Be, Sn and Ag-Cu.
The geological team believes that the above indicates the presence of an Intrusion-Related Gold System. Such a system is either additional to or links with the Mesothermal-type gold found at Bekbulaktor. Further exploratory work will be carried out to test the mineral potential of this system.
The 17,986ha Bashkol licence is situated within the renowned Tien Shan Gold Belt, 60km from the Kumtor deposit, along strike of the Kumtor-Ashutor Fault. The Kumtor Mine is Kyrgyz Republic's world class producing gold mine and generates average annual production of 600,000oz of gold per year. The Tien Shan Gold Belt hosts some of the world's largest gold deposits, including Muruntau (110 Moz), Almalyk (80 Moz Au Eq) and Kumtor (18 Moz Au).
Mr Bruce Lumley, Chief Executive Officer of Tengri Resources, commented:
"Tengri Resources is pleased with results returned to date from its exploration programme at the Bashkol project.
At Bashkol, we are reviewing existing geological data and expanding upon it by investigating areas displaying the highest levels of prospectivity, having now identified two new areas worthy of more detailed analyses. The Marta Prospect rock samples so far indicate the presence of elevated gold grades over a 1.5km strike-length, and substantiate Tengri's belief that the Bashkol licence is highly prospective for gold mineralisation.
Recent exploration results support our efforts to build our geological database at Bashkol, and adding our second drill rig will enable us to expedite doing so before the onset of winter."
