Savannah Petroluem Spuds First Well In Agadem Rift Programme

LONDON (Alliance News) - Savannah Petroleum PLC said Tuesday it has spudded the first of three wells in its drilling programme in the Agadem Rift basin in south-eastern Niger.

Savannah has spudded the Bushiya-1 well on the R3 portion of the R3/R4 PSC area at Agadem.

Work on the first well is expected to take between 35 and 40 days, and it will be drilled to a depth of 2,114 metres.

Chief Executive Andrew Knott said: "We are pleased to have commenced our drilling operations at Bushiya-1. This is a significant event for our company and our stakeholders in Niger."

"I would like to thank our operations team and our drilling contractor, GWDC, for all of their efforts in achieving this milestone. We look forward to providing an update on Bushiya-1's results over the coming weeks."

Shares were down 0.7% on Tuesday at 28.15 pence each.
