Savannah Petroleum Completes Well Pad Ahead Of Niger Drilling Campaign

12th Mar 2018 13:38

LONDON (Alliance News) - Oil and gas company Savannah Petroleum PLC said on Monday that ahead of its drilling on the R3/R4 Production Sharing Contract area in Agadem Basin, Niger, construction of the Bushiya well pad has been completed.

The well site is now fully manned and operational, with 100 personnel on site, including rig crew and drilling supervisors.

Well pad construction for the second well, Amdigh, is currently over 20% complete, with civil work operations expected to be completed at the end of March, at which point contracts will start work at the Kunama site.

Savannah's drilling campaign will target three prospects on the R3 portion of the area, and will aim for a total unrisked mean recoverable resource of 110 million barrels, with each prospect expected to take 30 to 35 days to drill, along with a rig move of 10 to 15 days between each well.

"We are delighted to be on the cusp of commencing our maiden drilling operations in Niger, which represents the culmination of thousands of man-hours of technical and operational work. The drilling campaign has the potential to be transformational for both Savannah and the local communities in which we are operating," said Chief Executive Officer Andrew Knott.

Shares in Savannah Petroleum were down 0.7% at 29.00 pence on Monday.
