Tlou Energy reports improved gas flow rates from Lesedi project in Botswana

Mon, 25th Nov 2019

Tlou Energy Said short-term gas flow rates at its Lesedi coal bed methane project in Botswana had improved. Project finance discussions to connect the project to the grid, meanwhile, had made 'good' progress, it added. Tlou Energy had previously announced initial gas flow rates of about 20m standard cubic feet per day from each of the Lesedi 3 and Lesedi 4 production pods. Since then, gas flows had continued with periodic short-term rates significantly higher than those initially announced. Tlou Energy said it was aiming for a minimum sustained gas flow rate in the region of 80-100 Mscfd from each production pod. 'As part of the ongoing dewatering process, gas flows are prone to fluctuations which is normal,' it added. 'As water continues to be removed from the coal, the coal is expected to become more gas saturated and a corresponding increase in sustained flow rates should be observed.'
